Day Two: Arctic Valley

The day started with a Quick Write, where the class had to write about what we would all want to do with our "wild and precious life." Following that activity, we decided to bust out the computers and work on the blog. With this activity, we bumped into some difficulty as a lot of people had to make an email or they couldn't sign in or the computers were just not turning on. Eventually, we were somewhat able to start our bios for the blog. After that, we jumped into a poem called, "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud," by William Wordsworth. This poem had multiple forms of imagery which we discussed and were even able to create poems about what we could sense in Arctic Valley. Next, we went over what we were going to read. Ben and Ashley brought out stacks and stacks of books that we would be able to choose from. Ben then went though every book and explained what they were about and if he thought they were good reads. After quickly going through every book, we all rushed in to choose what we wanted to read. It seems like everyone knew what they wanted to read way ahead of time. I am personally very excited to read my book. Now, to Jyotis for our hike in Arctic Valley.

Today we hiked Arctic Valley. It was a long, bumpy, sleepless road, but we made it to the parking lot. On the hike we took a couple of breaks so the people in the back could catch up to us, and so we could catch our breath as well. There was a light drizzle coming down from the sky, but just enough to cool us down. The worst thing about that drizzle was it made the hike a giant slip-and-slide.

At the "top" we hung out, talked, and laughed. The writing class wrote in our journals and after we were done we headed back down. On the way down it was worse because gravity seemed to smack us around a bit. It almost won, but it couldn't quite get a grip on us thanks to those Converse. At the bottom of the hike there was food and Capri Sun waiting for us, and it was good. Back on the bus and one more bumpy road then we were home free.
