"Safety in the Raft"
By Larry Wilson
We walk with webbed feet on dry land
Vainly striving to find our way
Amidst the brace, yet we were born
To struggle within intertwined flocks.
The battle to stay afloat can demoralize
Any poor soul that swims in the ponds of adversity.
Why should we continue to bust our wings
Against the turbulent winds and streams? Why?
Love and hope are the two forces that
Pull our hearts and push our desires.
We are the ugly ducklings. We are all
Searching for the life raft, only to fly.
